Pedalling with competence, connection, character and confidence!

C4XC is a non-profit organization

C4XC Youth Performance Cycling Team is a completely youth-centric cycling team. The program is geared towards developing well-rounded cycling athletes in various disciplines.  We are a racing team, with strong community-oriented values.

Where development leads to performance

  • Build a top-competing youth cycling team, highly-visible and well-respected in the province of Alberta by focusing on the 4Cs of athlete development - Competence, Character, Confidence and Connection.

  • We deliver high-quality cycling programming and events for youth and their families for a lifelong love of sport and competition.

    • To foster Competence - we have certified coaches, that possess the experience and training necessary to develop their respective athletes’ ages and abilities. We support families with high performance athletes as they navigate regional, provincial, national and international levels.

    • To foster Character - we model and reinforce the values of teamwork, hard work and humility.

    • To foster Confidence - we encourage participation and leadership, in practice, games, workouts, in events.

Some of C4 Team!

  • Susanne McArthur Head Coach and Performance Lead

I’m a teacher for close to 20 years and I race all the bikes! Cyclocross, MTB, gravel, road, criterium, triathlon and recently epic adventuring! I love to compete and train! I have been a high-performance athlete my whole life. Competitive swimming and playing water polo through high school and university brought me to triathlon in my 20s. I then competed as a nationally ranked Elite and Pro triathlete in ITU events. So my past is full of road racing, criteriums, draft-legal triathlon and time-trialing! But now I spend most of my time on my gravel/cx and MTB. I currently hold an Elite designation in Cyclocross and MTB. I feel strongly about continuing to be a strong role-model in striving for excellence. I always have the LONG game in mind for my athletes, and firmly believe that high performance and FUN can go hand-in-hand.

Coach Susanne is also the founder of C4. She trains the Performance Stream.

  • David Bopp Dev Lead

Biking is my happy place.  It lets me turn off all the noise of everyday life and be in the moment.  I've been riding mountain bikes since I bought my first thirty years ago when the decision was bike or food and bike won out.  I love seeing my three boys develop a love of mountain biking too.  Plus, the more my wife and boys love mountain biking the more trips we can take to bike new locations and explore new trails.  My goal is to help young athletes develop solid mountain biking skills and a lifelong love of biking in a fun environment that is as safe as possible.  I'm always looking forward to the next ride, high-fives, and big smiles!

Coach David is the Development Stream lead. Community Initiation - trained; PMBIA certified. Hop-On Instructor

  • Erik Bakke

Erik has been with the team for going on four years now. His skills and expertise make him an asset to our Performance Team. His sessions are specific and practical. He has been riding and racing all the bikes since way back, but of late, you can see him racing his CX bike in the fall and hear his stories about his epic racing and adventuring around the globe!
